Waiting for Wednesday #3: I will be Furiously Happy when this book is released!

Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Waiting for Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine.

Book: Furiously Happy
Author: Jenny Lawson
Publisher: Flatiron Books
Expected Publication: September 22, 2015
Genre(s): humour, autobiography, non-fiction [seriously...]

"In LET'S PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED, Jenny Lawson baffled readers with stories about growing up the daughter of a taxidermist. In her new book, FURIOUSLY HAPPY, Jenny explores her lifelong battle with mental illness. A hysterical, ridiculous book about crippling depression and anxiety? That sounds like a terrible idea. And terrible ideas are what Jenny does best...

Jenny's first book, LET'S PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED, was ostensibly about family, but deep down it was about celebrating your own weirdness. FURIOUSLY HAPPY is a book about mental illness, but under the surface it's about embracing joy in fantastic and outrageous ways-and who doesn't need a bit more of that?" (www.goodreads.com)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you've read Jenny's first book, you probably remember reading about some bizarre moments in her childhood that made me, and many others, laugh until they cried. I think I really identified with Ms. Lawson, not so much for her life experiences (!) but because of her humorous, slightly askew view of the world. She is also a famous blogger () and very blunt about her challenges with mental illness. So basically, she's another hero.

I found Felicia Day's autobiography You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) very easy to relate to, especially when she wrote about having problems with anxiety. I think Jenny's newest release will have the same influence on people, and hopefully take some more stigma away from the general perception of mental illness.

I highly recommend Jenny Lawson's first book, Let's Pretend This Never Happened, as well as Felicia Day's You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost).

(I'd love for you to be able to click on the book covers, but Blogger is fighting me today for some reason! Sorry for the inconvenience!)
