Lair of Dreams: Worth the Wait? [Review]

And how!!

First off, if you're one of those people over 40 who have been thinking about trying to read one of those e-books the kids are all taking about these days, then this (and The Diviners) would be the best choice... along with a wifi connection.

Why? Because Libba Bray immerses you so fully in 1927 New York, that it's very helpful to be able to click on a name, or a phrase, or a location, and have Wikipedia/ the internet tell you a little somethin' about Louise Brooks, or The 5 Points, or what a cloche is. (And that's what e-books can DO for you! Otherwise you have to reach over, grab your phone, and TYPE something. Which is actually cumbersome if you want to stay in 1927. Wow... how spoiled are we in 2015?!)

Quickie Review: Magic Slays

Magic Slays Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series is epic, and this 5th novel is EPIC within it's own covers! (If that makes sense.) Things come to a roaring boil, where teamwork is the only way to save the day!

Another awesome read. Did anyone else think the Light Keepers would be like, the Grandchildren of the Tea Party or something? Some current political themes and challenges in America definitely symbolized through the plight of the Keepers. Definitely Republicans.

Kate Daniels Kicks Some Serious ASS (Series Review)

www.goodreads.comSo I have to tell you about this amazing series that I am reading.

It's not YA, and not a trilogy, so I'm WAY out of my comfort zone! Also, I've been burned before with series that start out amazing, but the author takes 5-year breaks, or you're afraid they're going to die before they finish what they started (yes, George R. R., I'm talking about you).

I belong to a reading group/ book club called Vaginal Fantasy that I discovered through Felicia Day. She started it on www.goodreads.com and once a month she and some friends host a Google+ hangout to discuss the book of the month while drinking alcohol and getting horribly off-topic. It's great. The books usually consist of a strong heroine in a sci-fi and/or fantasy setting. Some of the books are just pure smut (which is fine), and then you get some gems like KATE DANIELS.

She Be Pullin' Her Hair Out

Hello, Dear Readers!

So I just spent a few hours trying to figure out how to put a CHICKLET (one of those wee buttons you can click) on my blog so that it would be easier to follow me. And the RESULT?! *drums puh-puh-pumming* is F*CK ALL.

Learning about blogging is SUPER fun. When I get famous I'll just get my lackeys to figure it out. (Or more likely, I'll just tell the computer what to do and the computer will just take some cash out of my bank account in payment...)

Retro Review: Slaughterhouse-Five

Slaughterhouse-Five (Or The Children's Crusade)
By: Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007)
Published: 1969
Movie: (1972) - [haven't seen]

"Kurt Vonnegut's absurdist classic Slaughterhouse-Five introduces us to Billy Pilgrim, a man who becomes unstuck in time after he is abducted by aliens from the planet Tralfamadore. In a plot-scrambling display of virtuosity, we follow Pilgrim simultaneously through all phases of his life, concentrating on his (and Vonnegut's) shattering experience as an American prisoner of war who witnesses the firebombing of Dresden."

Dear fellow readers,

I assume you're a reader because you're reading a blog about books. I just recently discovered that you could specifically have a BLOG about BOOKS. This reveals a few things about me already!
